Normally, we at FORA don’t condone girl-hate, but in the cases of the following six characters, we couldn’t help but hate their guts.
Looking back, these girls were great characters despite our (misplaced?) distaste for them. They were brash, self-assured and unapologetic–exactly the reason it was so easy for us to love to hate them.
Muffy Crosswire, Arthur
We hated her because she was a rich snob and we were jealous that she was a third grader with a limo and a driver. Also she had a cell phone while most of us were still using dial up internet.
Angelica Pickles, Rugrats
Who knew a three-year-old could cause so much misery? Angelica–Tommy’s spoiled, manipulative cousin–constantly bullied and took advantage of the babies. But sometimes, she did team up with the babies against a common enemy.
The Ashleys, Recess
Continuing with the theme of rich bitches, the Ashleys were an exclusive clique of well-dressed, prissy snobs. They turned their noses up at everyone else on the playground.
Shreeky, Care Bears
Even Beastly hated her. The young niece of No Heart was a giant brat. From her constant complaining to shrill screaming, she was insufferable. But her eyebrows were way ahead of their time #onfleeeeek.
Veronica Lodge, The Archie Comics
The Betty/Veronica dynamic has divided generations of women. While you might have preferred Veronica over Betty, her killer wardrobe and babe status was definitely something to hate her for.
Phoebe, The Magic School Bus
NOBODY CARES ABOUT WHAT YOU DID AT YOUR OLD SCHOOL.
